So we are at my in-laws lake house. As I wrote last time, we are here for a little R&R due to the generosity of my brother and sister-in-law. Time will tell whether my prediction holds true and this does not count as a “real” vacation in my kid’s eyes.

I have to admit, it’s a little hard for me to count it as well. Typically, it takes me two days to transition from work mode to full vacation mode then a few days of relaxing, then as the vacation ends, I ramp back up into “work mode” about two days before it is over. If this pattern holds true, I will be ramping back up before I ever slowed down. And since I am writing this on Day 2, I am not in vacation mode. Yet an additional lesson on what happens when you fail to plan.

Ah well. It’s a little disingenuous to whine when you’re sitting on a deck with a view like this.

But I will be keeping this short so I can get back to relaxing, which brings me to my point.

Are you making time to refresh yourself? Or do you, like me, spend way too much time working and not enough time recharging? Have you incorporated regular periodic times for nothing?

So often we don’t. Or at least I know I don’t.

We set the goals, we know what we are working toward and then we just keep pushing and striving and working and worrying and pushing and striving and working and worrying. And on and on.

And if you never stop and enjoy, you can get crabby and resentful. Not that I have ever experienced that.

Do you have anyone who keeps you accountable to rest?

So, with that, I will say goodbye until next time. I’m going boating.

Oh, if you want some of that kind of accountability, give me a call, your family will thank you for it.

Integritas,

Dr. Jeff
